Starting on the windows

There are some beautiful old stone windows in the house which had been painted over.  When the guys start to strip off the old paint, it's clear the windows had been painted over to disguise the fact they need repairing.  It's not a surprise given the whole house practically needs re-built and they will look stunning once they've been done.

En-suite floor

The en-suite to the new master bedroom will be at a mezzanine level due to the presence of an immovable beam.  The position of the beam gives additional height to the kitchen underneath which will, when finished, have a ceiling with two levels.

Shoring up the shower room ceiling

The old doors between the snug and the shower room have been removed and they take out some of the wall to create more space.  This means putting in some new concrete beams to hold the first floor up!    You can see the thickness of the wall in the first photo and taking it out will create some extra space

A new wall

The wall of the barn isn't in a good state and so needs to be rebuilt (otherwise known as repair and maintenance).  It also gets insulated so it's not freezing when it's finished!  This will be the dining room in the new layout & in the finished room the wall will be exposed showing off the gorgeous cotswold stone.  It looks great now it's done, even though the tin roof goes back on until the planning permission comes through and the new roof can go on.
